Eight Months

August 31, 2020

Sean is eight months! I can’t believe we are headed into September and the last quarter of the year. Here are some thoughts from the month of August.

Baby milestones: Sean is finally sitting by himself. He maneuvers himself up and down, and all around, quite well these days. Still not quite crawling up on his hands and feet yet though. He also took his first big boy bath today and somehow managed to grab a phone that was left on the floor and turned it on to a video.

Describe the month in one word: Eager. It happens sometimes mid-way through August every single year. I get eager for autumn, my favorite season, to arrive. I purchase a pumpkin scented candle and start adding pumpkin pie spice to my oatmeal at night. I plan fun, festive activities. I await the kids going back to school. This year looks very different, but I am still very much enjoying our transition into fall and the cooling days.

Happiest memory: Matthew’s first day of remote school, followed by going into the pool with all the kids, and singing Humpty dumpty to Seany, while he was sitting on a wall and then had a “great fall.”

How I am feeling:Living in the moment, which is something I have struggled with for quite some time. I am enjoying my cup of coffee when it is time for it in the morning, and my afternoon smoothie while unloading the dishwasher. I enjoy helping Matthew with a school in the morning and my work after lunch. I enjoy naps on Sunday afternoon, but I don’t long for them on a Tuesday.
